Topic: Just Judiciary!

Description: The ongoing confrontation between the pillars of the state have brought each of them under the limelight. The many are wary of the overstepping of the boundaries set in the constitution by these institutions, especially the judiciary, especially as the common people seem to be becoming cannon fodder!

Is everything alright within the judicial structure of Pakistan? Can it sort out matters of the country without setting it’s own house in order?

Parliament vs Judiciary?

Topic: Parliament vs Judiciary?

Description: Running a government is all about putting a system in place and then adhering to it. The whole concept is to work for the greater common good. Good of the people who have elected the government. However, when there are institutional wranglings and excesses of authority, the common man is left by the way side.

So who do you think is poaching on whose preserves in this tussle between the parliament and the judiciary? How is the common man, the awam, to make his voice heard above all the rhetoric?

Topic: Executive Execution

Description: Executive is an important pillar of the governance. However, is it really holding up the structure or is this pillar also suffering from structural damage? Rampant corruption and cronyism have weakened this pillar too.

Is the executive in Pakistan working as a good administrator? If it is not, then who is keeping a check on it?

Topic: Who is watching the pillars?

Description: Parliament, Judiciary and the Executive are the three pillars that hold up the structure of the government. Their clockwork functioning keep a check and balance on each pillar’s functioning. But when they get out of sync, the entire edifice crumbles.

Who is keeping a watch on the functioning of the pillars of the state? Where is the present collision course taking the government in Pakistan?

Description: With the all eyes on the proceedings at the Supreme Court, and all minds on the fate of the Prime Minister, where does the awam stand in its quest for justice?

How is the common man to get access to justice, and a solution of its problems? Is anyone listening to Hum Awam?

Topic: Immoral Immunity

Description: While the question of immunity to the President may have been discussed to death, but one thing that has been totally missing from the discussion has been the reason WHY the immunity is being claimed… the matter of the money in Swiss accounts that belong to the Pakistani nation.

Even if the President has immunity, the question is… why should he, or anyone else for that matter. Isn’t the concept of immunity immoral?

Constitution of the country

Topic: Constitution of the country

Description: So what drives the legal system of the country. What are the rules, and who or what sets the game plan? Most would answer correctly by naming the constitution of country as being the ultimate rule book. Many get all choked up and teary eyed while mentioning it, considering it almost sacrosanct? But is it really? If it treats some people as more equal than others and has one set of rules for the rulers and another for the ruled, should it really be getting due deference?

Do you think the Constitution is a document that is sacred, or should it be revisited to remove the anomalies left within it?
